Other recent reports suggest that Rangers are among a host of clubs who want to sign Middlesbrough striker Ajay Matthews. At just 18, the youngster scored 16 goals in 17 starts for Boro's youth side last season. Joining Matthews on Philipe Clement's wishlist is Coventry star Callum O'Hare who is available on a free this summer.

With Rangers looking towards the English Championship for their transfer inspiration this summer, it now appears that another of the league's stars is being targeted by the Glasgow outfit.

Rangers target move for McLean

As first reported by The Daily Record, Rangers want to make a summer move for Scotland and Norwich City star Kenny McLean. The outlet states that the higher-ups at Ibrox have been watching McLean for some time and Clement and his recruitment team have placed McLean on their list of summer targets.

The 32-year-old has just returned home from a Euro 2024 campaign which saw Scotland exit the competition at the group stage. McLean featured in all three of his nation's games at the tournament, but all of those appearances were from off the bench.

Despite struggling for game time on the international stage, McLean shone at club level last season, featuring in all 46 of Norwich's league games as they lost to Leeds United in the Championship playoff semi-final. It was his exploits for the Canaries that earned McLean the accolade of Norwich's player of the season.

The midfielder also earned the praise of his former boss David Wagner over the course of the last campaign. Speaking to the local media the German sang McLean's praises telling the press:

"He has been in this football club quite a while. Maybe he improved. I can only judge from the time I've been here with him, but what I can say is that he's an outstanding athlete, a top trainer, and super competitive."

"He is one of, if not the, most reliable players we have. He is a good person as well."

McLean has two years left on his existing deal with Norwich which also includes an option for a further year. Whilst the Canaries may be unlikely to sell, the 32-year-old's links with Rangers may prove to tip the scales in favour of the Ibrox side.

Speaking to The Athletic back in 2021 McLean spoke about what it would mean to play for his boyhood club, telling the outlet that "for me and my family, it would be pretty special."

وبحسب ما جاء في صحيفة “ليفربول إيكو”، فإن ترينت ألكسندر أرنولد لم يخبر ليفربول بأنه اختار الانضمام إلى ريال مدريد في المرحلة المقبلة.

ولا تزال إدارة ليفربول تعمل على تمديد عقود ثلاثي الفريق، محمد صلاح وفان دايك بالإضافة إلى أرنولد، حيث من المقرر أن تنتهي عقود هؤلاء اللاعبين بنهاية الموسم.

وتابعت الصحيفة أنه وعلى الرغم من أن الغموض لايزال قائماً حول مستقبل أرنولد، لكنه لم يبد رغبته في الرحيل عن صفوف ليفربول حتى الآن.

In a significant blow to the Sunrisers Hyderabad, India fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been ruled out of IPL 2020 due to a thigh injury he picked against the Chennai Super Kings last week. The Sunrisers have announced left-arm fast bowler Prithvi Raj Yarra as replacement.Concerns grew over Kumar’s fitness and further participation in the IPL after he sat out the Sunrisers’ last match, on Sunday against the Mumbai Indians. Kumar had limped out of the field in the previous match against the Chennai Super Kings, having bowled just one delivery while into his fourth over.At the time, Kumar was seen holding his hip, but it is understood he has injured his thigh. It cannot be confirmed how serious the injury is. However, the Indian team management and selectors would be concerned, considering he would be in the reckoning for India’s upcoming tour of Australia – which is likely to be start in late November – although no official itinerary has been announced.Kumar is the third player – and second for the Sunrisers – to miss this year’s IPL due to injury. Australia allrounder Mitchell Marsh was the first to be ruled out due to ankle injury in the first week of IPL. وواصل: “أعتقد حقًا أنه جزء من النقاش الدائر حول من يكون أفضل لاعب في الدوري الإنجليزي على الإطلاق، عندما جاء من روما ووصف بأنه مرفوض من تشيلسي، كنت تعتقد أنه مجرد جناح غير ثابت المستوى، قد يسجل هدفًا غريبًا، لم أكن أتوقع ذلك، ولم أتوقع وصوله إلى المركز الرابع في قائمة هدافي ليفربول”.

واسترسل: “محمد صلاح في طريقه ليصبح هداف الموسم الحالي من الدوري الإنجليزي وأكثر من صنع الأهداف، وهو ما فعله مرة من قشبل، ولكن القيام بذلك من جديد سيكون أمرًا لا يُصدق”.

وأكد: “يجب أن يكون ضمن قائمة أعظم لاعبي الدوري الإنجليزي على الإطلاق، انظر إلى المعدل الذي يسجل به باستمرار، إنه يفعل ذلك في جميع المباريات الكبرى بشكل ثابت بطريقة تجعله أعظم لاعب في الدوري الإنجليزي على الإطلاق، لا أعتقد أن أي شخص يمكنه أن ينافسه في ذلك”.

ويرى الكثيرون أن النجم السابق لفريق آرسنال، تييري هنري، هو أفضل لاعب في الدوري الإنجليزي عبر تاريخه.

وأوضح: “من الناحية الجمالية، ربما كان تييري هنري أفضل للمشاهدة، محمد صلاح يلعب في خطوط مستقيمة في بعض الأحيان مقارنة بـ هنري، كان الأخير سلسًا للغاية في الطريقة التي فعل بها الأشياء”.

واعترف: “أحببت مشاهدته تمامًا حيث سجل كل هذه الأهداف وقدم كل هذه التمريرات الحاسمة، لكنني أعتقد أنه في غضون عامين، سيكون محمد صلاح هناك (أفضل لاعب في الدوري الإنجليزي)، وما سيساعدهم في تعزيز ذلك هو فوزه بلقب آخر في الدوري الإنجليزي”.

ويستطيع محمد صلاح تعزيز نفسه ضمن أساطير ليفربول والدوري الإنجليزي حال توقيعه على عقد جديد.

واستأنف لينش: “إنه أمر مشجع، هو لا يتحدث عن عقده خلال منشوراته عبر مواقع التواصل أو المقابلات الصحفية، نحن نقترب من ذلك (تجديد عقده)، أعتقد أنه يجب أن يحدث”.

وتابع: “ربما يكون متطلعًا إلى اللحاق بـ روجر هانت (الهداف الثاني في تاريخ ليفربول برصيد 285 هدفًا)، ليس من غير المعقول أن يتمكن من اللحاق به، وهو أمر مجنون إذا انتقل إلى المركز الثاني”.

وأكد: “لم أكن أتوقع هذا الأمر، وهذا دليل على أنه جيد بشكل لا يُصدق وكان من دواعي سروري أن أشاهده في السنوات الأخيرة، لا أريد أن أكون غير عادل مع جيرارد لأنه لم يحصل أبدًا على امتياز اللعب في فرق جيدة مثل محمد صلاح، لذا فإن هذا يجعل الحكم عليه صعبًا، لكن يجب أن يكون هناك (كأفضل لاعب في تاريخ ليفربول)، سيكون على الأقل هناك كأفضل 10 لاعبين في ليفربول على الإطلاق.”

Manchester United are thought to be advancing in talks to sign a new £30m forward target instead of Joshua Zirkzee, according to a new report.

The Red Devils have a busy summer ahead of them, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe has recently admitted the club needs two or three summer windows to rebuild the squad, making comparisons to Real Madrid and their new signing Kylian Mbappe.

"I don't think the solution is to buy an Mbappe. We are more grassroots than that. One player is not going to solve the problem at Manchester United. The first thing we need to do is build a balanced squad and ultimately maybe top it off with one or two players like Mbappe. It will take two or three summer windows to get to a better place.

"If you compare, since the day that Sir Alex Ferguson and [former United chief executive] David Gill retired 11 seasons ago, Manchester United with Real Madrid, they have consistently performed well and performed where Manchester United should be performing today.

"The net spend on players at Manchester United is £1.1 billion and at Real Madrid, rather surprisingly, it's £200m. If you look at the squads of Real Madrid and United, Real Madrid have seven players that are valued at over €100 million if you look at Transfermarkt. United do not have any players over €70 million or €80 million."

One area where United and Erik ten Hag want to strengthen this summer is in attack, with Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford. In fact, reports have suggested that there is a good chance United can hijack AC Milan’s deal for the Netherlands international.

An alternative target is Lille’s Jonathan David, and with contact already made over a possible transfer, a new update has now emerged.

According to HITC, Man Utd are ‘advancing in talks’ to sign David this summer, with Old Trafford scouts eyeing the Canada international for 12 months.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle and West Ham are also credited with an interest, but it is only United who are advancing in discussions.

The report suggests that it looks to be one of David or Zirkzee at Old Trafford, saying: “The Red Devils have also engaged in talks with Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee with HITC understanding that United want a ‘significant alternative’ to Rasmus Hojlund and both David and Zirkzee represent that.”

David is thought to be available for a fee in the region of £30m, with the 24-year-old currently at the Copa America with his nation but ready to depart his club with one year left on his deal.
