Tottenham Hotspur are now serious contenders to sign a “gifted” star who earns £100,000-a-week at his current club, according to a new report.
Spurs are back in Premier League action this weekend, as they travel to the Etihad to face Manchester City, looking to make it two wins over the Sky Blues in the space of a few weeks.

Ange Postecoglou’s side could be busy when January arrives, as they try to keep up with the top-four race in the second half of the season, as well as continue in the Europa League. The Spurs boss will want to improve his squad if the right opportunities come about, and one player they could have their eye on is former midfielder Harry Winks.
Spurs were linked with a move for Winks last weekend, which does come as a surprise given he left the club in 2023, to join Leicester City. He was sold to the Foxes for £10 million, but now Spurs are interested in bringing him back, and it could cost them £32 million.
Postecoglou will not want to lose any players in January, but that could be a difficult promise to keep, as Manchester United, Man City, and Real Madrid lurk with interest in Pedro Porro. Ruben Amorim is pushing the Red Devils to sign Porro, as he knows the Portuguese well from their time at Sporting Lisbon, and the player’s entourage are expecting an offer to arrive.
Tottenham will be looking to stand firm, and any business they do in January will likely be for arrivals, and they have their eye on another player, who isn’t getting on well at his new club and could be an option for them in the New Year.
Tottenham now serious contenders to sign "gifted" £100k-p/w star
According to a report from Spain, Tottenham are interested in signing Jadon Sancho in January. The Englishman is currently on loan at Chelsea, with the Blues having the obligation to buy from Man Utd at the end of the season when conditions are met.
Sancho has struggled so far at Stamford Bridge, playing five times for them, and they have all come in the Premier League. The 24-year-old has yet to score for his new team but has grabbed one assist. Sancho, who earns £100,000-a-week at Chelsea, has missed their last two league games, as well as Europa Conference League games.
This report states that Spurs are serious contenders to sign Sancho, who was dubbed “gifted” by Edin Terzić. Despite his struggles at Chelsea, Sancho still has top teams keeping an eye on his situation, and Spurs are looking into the possibility of signing a player who has scored against them at their own ground, which came in the 2-2 draw against Manchester United back in April 2023.

It could be a complicated deal to get done, as Sancho is on loan at Chelsea from Man Utd, so an agreement would need to be reached between all three clubs for this to happen.

No reflexo, Jota conseguiu defender espetacularmente e salvar o time da Gralha.

On a Karachi pitch that is showing signs of deterioration, Australia have amassed 505 for 8
Tristan Lavalette13-Mar-2022Captain Pat Cummins resisted declaring late on day two of the second Test with Australia preferring grinding a weary Pakistan into the ground, as they passed 500 in their first innings on a Karachi pitch showing signs of deterioration.Australia reached the close in a commanding position at 505 for 8 with Mitchell Starc 28 not out and Cummins yet to score. Starc and Alex Carey batted almost through the entire final session in an attempt to break the back of Pakistan, who have spent two whole days in the field but in-form openers Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq were surely relieved not to have faced a tricky period before stumps.Cummins is set to face scrutiny for not sending Pakistan in late on the day although Australia gave a clear indication they want to bat just once in this pivotal match in a belief the pitch will deteriorate further. Australia batted their highest number of overs in an innings in Asia since 1956, but inconsistent bounce and sharp turn was evident later in the day.Carey fell for 93 just before stumps and agonisingly short of his maiden century after batting fluently to energise an otherwise dull final session, where everyone was seemingly waiting for Australia’s declaration but it never came.Australia’s indefatigable innings was dominated by Usman Khawaja’s brilliant 160 off 369 balls as he fell just short of his highest Test score of 174 against New Zealand at the Gabba in 2015. His 11th Test century – and first in the country of his birth – was marked by unwavering concentration, but he could only score 33 runs off 103 balls on day two underlining the changing nature of the pitch.Khawaja’s innings ended midway through the second session when he was bowled by a cracker of a delivery from offspinner Sajid Khan, who produced drift and sharp turn to hit the top of off stump. After a memorable first innings in the city his family hails from, the 35-year-old departed to a standing ovation from a boisterous crowd having become the first Australian Test centurion in Pakistan since Mark Waugh’s 117 in Peshawar in 1998.Alex Carey fell seven short of a maiden Test century•AFP/Getty Images
Eyebrows were raised after tea as Carey and Starc resisted the temptation of throwing the bat to ensure the match went through the motions. That’s been a familiar sensation during this historic series.Australia just kept batting as Carey, who had been somewhat under pressure due to patchy glove work and batting, effectively reverse-swept his way to his second Test half-century of his career. An increasingly confident Carey powered to his highest score in what should be a tonic ahead of an important stint behind the stumps. While he capitalised on Australia’s strong platform, middle-order batters Travis Head and Cameron Green missed out after being dismissed during a lively second session where the match appeared to be moving only for that to prove fool’s gold after a laborious final session.Pakistan toiled amid oppressive conditions in their Karachi fortress. They did attempt a fightback in the second session with spinners Sajid and Nauman Ali conjuring sharp turn on a pitch showing the first signs of encouragement for bowlers seven days into the series, the first between the teams in Pakistan since 1998.Sajid bounced back with variations in pace and flight after notably struggling on day one where he pursued a defensive line of bowling before and after tea. The 28-year-old did a lot of heavy lifting and finished with 2 for 151 from 54 overs.Shaheen Shah Afridi couldn’t rouse the same energy he memorably produced during the tame draw in Rawalpindi apart from a lethal spell of reverse swing in the second session that was repeatedly thwarted by Khawaja’s stout bat.Pakistan’s flagging bowlers were understandably weary by the time they took the third new ball, which only made scoring easier for Carey and Starc who finally started upping the ante.In what felt like an eternity ago, Australia resumed day two at 251 for 3 and nightwatchman Nathan Lyon stole the show in the first hour with a breezy 38 to frustrate Pakistan’s bowlers hoping for early inroads. But he fell short of a maiden Test half-century after being comprehensively bowled by Faheem Ashraf in Pakistan’s only success in the morning session.Lyon’s unexpected cameo provided a rare source of entertainment in another hard grind of a day during this slow-moving series.
Jurgen Klopp’s final season as Liverpool manager perhaps did not go how he, nor the Anfield faithful had hoped, but it was still memorable. The Reds managed to win one trophy, the Carabao Cup, beating Chelsea in the final, with a side filled with academy players, dubbed “Klopp’s kids” by Gary Neville.
However, they did not quite manage to give him a send-off with a second Premier League title, finishing third, nine points behind champions Manchester City. They were also eliminated from the Europa League at the quarter-final stage at the hands of eventual champions Atalanta.
Liverpool celebrate winning the Carabao Cup
Klopp has certainly left Liverpool’s squad in excellent shape for Arne Slot, as they are proving this season. His final summer transfer window certainly played a big part.
Klopp’s signings in his final summer
The German made four permanent signings in the summer of 2023, all of which strengthened the midfield at Anfield. The most expensive of those was Dominik Szoboszlai, who joined the club for £60m from RB Leipzig. The Reds number eight has performed well for the club so far, scoring nine times and grabbing seven assists in 64 games.
Dominik Szoboszlai scores for Liverpool
Another key addition ahead of Klopp’s final season in charge was Alexis Mac Allister. The Argentine has been superb in the middle of the park for the Merseysiders since joining from Brighton and Hove Albion for just £35m.
Like Szoboszlai, he has contributed nine goals and seven assists in 66 appearances. That included a sublime strike against Fulham at Anfield, which he took on the half volley from 30 yards out and rifled it into the top right corner.
Klopp also signed Mac Allister’s fellow midfielder Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich. The Dutchman cost £34.2m and has been the standout under Slot, in particular, as a deep-lying midfielder. He has played 56 games for the club so far and has started every single single top-flight game under the new manager this season.
However, the same cannot be said for Klopp’s fourth recruitment from the 2023 summer window, Wataru Endo.
Why Endo could now be sold
After joining Liverpool from German side Stuttgart for £16.2m last season, it has been a mixed time of things for the Japan international at Anfield. He was a key player under Klopp, but has found his involvement under Slot has massively decreased this term.
Liverpool's Wataru Endo.
So far, the 31-year-old has made 52 appearances in that famous Red shirt, scoring twice and grabbing one assist. However, the majority of those games came in the 2023/24 campaign under the man who signed him.
Under Klopp, Endo played 43 games, becoming a crucial player at the base of the Liverpool midfield. It was certainly a blow for the Reds when he was called up to the Japan national team for the Aisa Cup at the start of 2024.
However, it has been a completely different story this season. Under Slot, the former Stuttgart man has featured just nine times across all competitions, and even then, they are mostly substitute appearances. Endo has only started two games this term, both of which were in the Carabao Cup.

It might be a surprise that the £50k-per-week star is not as important this season, given how much Klopp loved him. During his first few months at Anfield, the German described him as a “machine”, but he now struggles to get into the team.
Given the fact Endo is seemingly not in Slot’s plans, it might well make sense for the Reds to sell him, amid reports that he could depart in January.
Not only would it free up space in the squad for a new addition who Slot would be able to use, but the Reds would also get the 31-year-old’s wages off the books and have more money to spend.
Liverpool's Wataru Endo chases Julio Enciso
It certainly seems likely that Endo will not be a Liverpool player much longer, which is a shame considering the fact he was such an important player for Klopp in his final season at Anfield.
Liverpool's amazing teen could become even bigger than Trent & Bradley
Liverpool’s academy is purring, and the latest superstar in waiting may soon grace Slot’s squad.

The former Zimbabwe batter also faces the charge of failure to report an accident

Tarisai Musakanda has played five Tests, 15 ODIs and 12 T20Is for Zimbabwe•AFP
Tarisai Musakanda, the Zimbabwe batter, is reportedly expected to appear in court on charges of culpable homicide and failure to report an accident. Musakanda, who was driving his car in Harare on the night of January 16, was allegedly involved in a collision with a pedestrian, who has been identified as Gwinyai Chingoka – a tennis player who has represented Zimbabwe in the Davis Cup.Chingoka was 38.According to a report in , Chingoka sustained fractures on the left leg and elbow, and died in hospital on January 27.Musakanda is alleged to have stopped at the scene of the accident and driven the injured Chingoka to hospital, but that he did not report the accident to the police within 24 hours of the incident. It is alleged that Musakanda filed a police report on January 28, a day after Chingoka’s death. The post-mortem ruled that the road accident was the cause of Chingoka’s death. This is not the first time Musakanda has been in trouble related to driving. In January 2020, he returned home from Australia after his club team, New City Cricket Club, sacked him for a drink-driving conviction. The 27-year-old Musakanda has played five Tests, 15 ODIs and 12 T20Is since his international debut in 2016. His most recent appearance for Zimbabwe was in a T20I against Bangladesh in Harare in July 2021.
Celtic’s board were not afraid to splash the cash to bolster Brendan Rodgers’ playing squad during the summer transfer window ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
The Hoops were dealt a blow in the off-season, however, as Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion swooped in to sign Matt O’Riley on a permanent deal.
Mikey Johnston, Hyeon-gyu Oh, Tomoki Iwata, and Saed Haksabanovic were among the other players who were allowed to move on from Parkhead, to make way for new signings to come through the door.
The headline arrival of the summer was the signing of Arne Engels from Augsburg. He was brought in from the Bundesliga outfit for a club-record fee of £11m, which shows how much the board were willing to back Rodgers in the market.
Engels was not the only high-profile addition, however, as £6m was spent to bring in Auston Trusty from Sheffield United, and a fee of up to £9.5m was agreed with Norwich City to bring Adam Idah back to the club.
The Irish marksman was signed on a permanent deal to come in and compete with Kyogo Furuhashi for a starting spot, as the Japan international’s output has declined in recent years.
Kyogo Furuhashi's declining form
Under Ange Postecoglou in the 2022/23 campaign, the former Vissel Kobe star made a name for himself in Glasgow with an outstanding return of 27 goals in 36 appearances in the Scottish Premiership.
The impressive centre-forward only missed 16 ‘big chances’ and averaged a goal every 86 minutes in the division, which shows that he offered an incredibly consistent source of goals for the Australian head coach.
Unfortunately, however, he has been unable to replicate that sensational form in front of goal since Rodgers returned to Parkhead in the summer of 2023.
In the 2023/24 campaign, Kyogo only scored 14 goals in 38 appearances in the Scottish top-flight. His declining output was not down to a lack of service, though, as the Japan international missed a whopping 24 ‘big chances’.
This shows that his level of finishing dropped significantly, as the attacker failed to make the most of the high-quality opportunities that his teammates created for him.

As you can see in the table above, Kyogo has continued to struggle in front of goal in the current Premiership season, with almost three times as many ‘big chances’ missed as goals scored.
Since the start of last season, the 29-year-old striker has scored 19 goals and spurned 38 ‘big chances’ in the league, which shows that he has been incredibly wasteful during Rodgers’ tenure in charge.
Idah has been brought in to provide the manager with an alternative option to the Japanese lightweight and has had mixed success on the pitch this term.
Adam Idah's form this season
The Ireland international joined on a permanent deal from Norwich in the summer transfer window after spending the second half of last season on loan from the Canaries.
Idah produced nine goals and two assists in 19 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish giants last term, including a 90th-minute winning goal against Rangers in the SFA Cup final at Hampden Park in the last match of his loan.
Rodgers then swooped to bring the 6 foot 3 marksman back to Paradise and he has largely been the back-up to Kyogo across all competitions this term.
The 23-year-old centre-forward has only started five times in the Premiership and the Champions League combined, which shows that the Japanese striker is still the preferred option in that position.

As you can see in the table above, Idah’s finishing has been better than Kyogo’s but still not perfect, with as many ‘big chances’ missed as goals scored across the two competitions.
Whilst, at 23, he still has plenty of time left to develop and improve to earn a starting spot in the team on a regular basis, Rodgers could look elsewhere to find a long-term replacement for the Japanese whiz, as there is a striker at the club who is thriving out on loan – Johnny Kenny.
Why Johnny Kenny could eventually replace Kyogo
The 21-year-old sensation is currently out on loan at Shamrock Rovers in Ireland and has enjoyed a terrific year in front of goal for his temporary club.
Kenny, who had scored 12 goals in 34 games for Sligo Rovers before his move to Celtic in 2022, has scored three goals in six games for the Hoops at youth level, but has spent the majority of his time out on loan.
After zero goals in 12 games for Queen’s Park at Championship level in the 2022/23 campaign, the Ireland U21 international went back to his home country to play for Shamrock Rovers, where he is now thriving.
His form in the current year, which has been described as “superb” by talent scout Jacek Kulig, has been very impressive and suggests that the youngster could be the long-term replacement to Kyogo that the Hoops have been searching for.

As you can see in the table above, Kenny has made a fantastic start to his European career with three goals and only one ‘big chance’ missed in four outings in the Conference League for the Irish side.
The Celtic loanee has also plundered an eye-catching 13 goals in 19 starts, along with two assists, in the Premier Division in Ireland, which shows that the youngster has provided consistent quality in front of goal domestically and in Europe this year.
Overall, Kenny has scored 17 goals and missed 15 ‘big chances’ across the two competitions, which shows that he has been reliable in the final third. Whereas, Kyogo has missed more ‘big chances’ than he has scored goals, and Idah is level on both.

Therefore, if the 21-year-old ace can translate that level of form over to Scotland, Rodgers could find his next starting centre-forward by bringing the Shamrock Rovers loanee back to Parkhead, either in January or next summer.
