LIBERTADORES
As 32 equipes serão divididas em quatro potes, de oito equipes cada. Deste total, 28 se classificaram diretamente para a competição e outras quatro vieram de fases anteriores.

Oito times brasileiros estarão na fase de grupos. São eles: Palmeiras (Pote 1), Flamengo (Pote 1), Atlético-MG (Pote 1), Athletico-PR (Pote 1), Corinthians (Pote 2), Red Bull Bragantino (Pote 3), Fortaleza (Pote 4) e América-MG (Pote 4).

Por regra, equipes do mesmo país não podem cair no mesmo grupo, desde que uma delas venha da fase prévia. Ou seja, o Atlético-MG, por exemplo, não pode enfrentar o Corinthians, mas pode cair na mesma chave do América-MG.

As equipes farão seis jogos, sendo três em casa e três fora, e os dois primeiros de cada grupo avançam para as oitavas de final. O terceiro colocado irá para as oitavas de final da Copa Sul-Americana.

A final da competição será disputada no dia 29 de outubro de 2022, noEstádio Monumental Isidro Romero Carbo, em Guayaquil, no Equador.

SUL-AMERICANA
​Assim como na Libertadores, a Copa Sul-Americana conta com 32 equipes na sua fase de grupos. Entretanto, apenas 20 se classificaram de forma direta. Oito clubes vieram da fase prévia, enquanto outras quatro juntam-se a esta fase por terem caído na terceira fase da Libertadores.

Sete times brasileiros estarão na fase de grupos. São eles: Santos (Pote 1), São Paulo (Pote 1), Internacional (Pote 1), Atlético-GO (Pote 3), Ceará (Pote 3), Cuiabá (Pote 4) e Fluminense (Pote 4).

Por regra, equipes do mesmo país não podem cair no mesmo grupo, desde que uma delas venha da fase prévia ou da terceira fase da Libertadores. Ou seja, o Santos, por exemplo, não pode enfrentar o Cuiabá, mas pode cair na mesma chave do Fluminense.

As equipes farão seis jogos, sendo três em casa e três fora, e apenas o primeiro colocado de cada grupo avança para as oitavas de final. Os terceiros colocados de cada grupo da Libertadores completarão as equipes das oitavas de final da Copa Sul-Americana.

A final da competição será disputada no dia 1º de outubro de 2022, no Estádio Nacional Mané Garrincha, em Brasília.

وأشار إلى أن شكوى الزمالك كانت تطالب بتعويضات تضامنية بين اللاعب والنادي الروماني الذي كان يلعب له من قبل، وتقدم الأبيض بشكوى ضد اللاعب والنادي الروماني إلى الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم تحت رقم FPSD-17571 ، وكانت الشكوى ما زالت متداولة بلجنة فض المنازعات بـ”فيفا” حتى هذه اللحظة.

وأوضح عضو مجلس الإدارة أنه لم يتحدث لأي من وسائل الإعلام للتعليق على موقف الزمالك، مفضلاً أن يكون كلامه بشكل رسمي بعد التواصل مع المحامي المكلف بمتابعة القضية للوقوف على موقف الزمالك بشكل قانوني.

وكان الزمالك تعاقد مع اللاعب آرون بوبيندزا خلال فترة الانتقالات الصيفية الماضية، قبل أن يتراجع عن إتمام التعاقد، وآخر نادي لعب معه هو تشجيانج الصيني.

MS Dhoni and Stephen Fleming had captaincy talks even last season, the Chennai Super Kings coach has revealed. Dhoni decided to give up the CSK captaincy on the eve of the tournament, evident from how all the promotional advertising still has his face and not new captain Ravindra Jadeja’s. The timing was Dhoni’s sole decision, Fleming said.”We talked about it,” Fleming said. “Something MS and I talked about even last season, during the last season. The timing was MS’ call. He wanted to give Jadeja a clean slate going into the series. It was communicated with Mr Srinivasan, and then to the team.”We 100% respect that. It is going to be a bit of a transition period as we develop a relationship with Jadeja and also have MS there. You just don’t discard a player just because he doesn’t have the captaincy tag. Develop a new captain and you work with the experience you have got, and thankfully we have got quite a bit of that. This is a bit of a change, but we will work through that.”In only his second match not as captain of Chennai Super Kings – first in the IPL – Dhoni demonstrated the conundrum he is as a batter in T20 cricket. Against the mystery spin of Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy he practically stalled the innings, getting to 7 off 18 before he hit his first boundary. However, he made up for it in the end by scoring 35 off the last 13 balls he faced.In short, there was nothing new from Dhoni: against quality spin, he refused to take risk, which also perhaps had to do with the conditions and the score of 61 for 5, but when the bowlers erred even slightly with the dew setting in, he was brutal on them. And he did so with little match practice, having retired from all other official cricket.”It [Dhoni scoring runs] was good but it would have been nice if the top order had fired,” Fleming said. “The depth we have got in our batting is a positive. And certainly MS getting runs early in the tournament is a positive. But it was a pretty rusty tournament all up. It was a positive but there is a lot of improvement there.”What we found today is, we started the tournament a little bit nervous. We didn’t assess conditions that well. We were just behind the eight ball really. That happened last year as well, and it was a good catalyst for us to move forward. Conditions were quite tough. It was very wet the second half. Assessing conditions during the first part of the tournament is going to be a key aspect. Winning the toss as well. To make sure we get our decision-making right. So it was a tough day for us.”The toss remains a reality that teams have to live with in T20 cricket, more so in conditions where the pitch starts off spongy and then there is heavy dew in the second innings. Apart from him batting at his best – ideally not batting at all because he is more of a fail-safe these days – Jadeja could do with some of Dhoni’s luck with the toss: since 2018 he won 37 of the 63, the best rate for any IPL side.

Whilst Gary O’Neil has managed to keep hold of his position for the time being, Wolverhampton Wanderers now reportedly hold a real interest in appointing one particular Championship manager to replace him.

O'Neil remains under pressure at Wolves

Although many saw the West Ham game as the last chance for O’Neil to save his Wolves job, the Telegraph’s John Percy has since reported that the manager currently retains the backing of those in charge at Molineux and will be given the chance to turn his side’s disappointing form around before being supported with January signings.

That said, previous reports suggest that the Midlands club have at least been looking at other options, with names such as David Moyes and Graham Potter mentioned in recent weeks, only for neither to complete moves into the Wolves technical area.

Now, the Premier League strugglers could decide to look towards a familiar face should they decide to part ways with O’Neil. According to Molineux News, Wolves now have a real interest in replacing O’Neil with Rob Edwards, who made 111 appearances for the club as a player from 2004 to 2008.

Edwards certainly knows what it would mean to keep Wolves in the Premier League, but that’s not to say it wouldn’t be a risky move. The Luton Town boss is currently facing struggles of his own since dropping down to the Championship with the Hatters last season. Among the favourites for promotion at the start of the season, Luton currently sit as low as 15th and just five points adrift of the dropzone in disappointing fashion.

Wolves should avoid risk of appointing "insane" Edwards

As much as the narrative behind a former player returning to the dugout to take Wolves to survival may appeal to those in the Midlands, Edwards already has one relegation on his CV and there’s no guarantee that he would perform better than the more experienced O’Neil, especially given Luton’s recent form.

Of course, had the links emerged last season when Edwards was at the centre of praise, then the risk may have been worthwhile. But Wolves can’t afford to take a gamble in their current position with Premier League safety on the line.

That said, there may still come a day when Edwards steps back into Premier League management, having received such high praise from Liverpool legend Jurgen Klopp last season.

The former Reds boss told reporters as relayed by Luton Today: “The job Rob is doing there is insane. I’m not sure it’s really respected enough that a team with the amount of points they had in the beginning of the season making such a footballing development, I’m not sure I saw that before.

“When you saw the Man United game, it was an incredible game of Luton. Yes, they lost it, but it was an incredible game. They increased possession periods during the season in a really crazy way. Good players, obviously top, top coached.”

The challenge facing counties regarding the availability of overseas players has been laid bare by Sussex’s announcement that they have signed a third wicketkeeper-batter for the T20 Blast, with New Zealand’s Tim Seifert joining Mohammad Rizwan and Josh Philippe in their squad.Counties are only able to register three overseas players simultaneously and field two in their playing XI. With Rashid Khan expected to be available throughout the season, Seifert, Rizwan and Philippe will effectively share one role in their side, taking it in turns to open the batting and keep wicket around their various international commitments.Sussex initially signed Rizwan on an all-formats deal until the end of the Blast in mid-July but, within hours of their announcement, Pakistan had confirmed that their ODI series against West Indies had been rescheduled for mid-June, ruling him out of several Blast group games.Philippe was drafted in as his replacement but will himself miss a chunk of games after being named in Australia A’s squad to tour Sri Lanka in June. Seifert has now been drafted in while he is unavailable, for what Sussex’s T20 head coach James Kirtley described as “the middle period” of the Blast.”It’s always good to have someone of his calibre, but the fact that he is a batter/keeper means we are really getting two players,” Kirtley said. “By continuing with an overseas player in that role it means we are not seeing any change amongst the rest of the team as Riz, Josh and Tim slot in and out.”It provides consistency without disrupting the structure, which are key elements behind a performing environment. وأردف: “أمامنا هدفان، الأول هو التأهل لدوري أبطال أوروبا العام المقبل، وهو أمر حيوي للنادي ولنا كلاعبين أيضًا، والثاني هو محاولة الوصول إلى نهائي كأس الاتحاد الإنجليزي”.

واختتم: “سنعود إلى ويمبلي لخوض نصف النهائي، وهو أمر مميز دائمًا، سيكون الأمر صعبًا، لكن ستكون فرصتنا الوحيدة، مع كأس العالم للأندية، للفوز بالألقاب هذا الموسم، سنسعى جاهدين لتحقيق ذلك”.

Manchester City’s academy has produced some fantastic players in recent times. That does not just go for players currently plying their trade at the Etihad Stadium, with several players who have come through the Citizens academy performing at other clubs across the Premier League.

Indeed, a large reason for such success in their youth set-up is due to the investment from the club, and have shown great commitment to producing talented homegrown players.

The academy, which celebrated its tenth anniversary at the start of the month, has managed to make £300m from player sales. The investment is paying off in many ways and has produced some fantastic players.

Some of the best City academy products

Phil Foden is one of the first players that springs to mind when thinking of City’s academy. The 24-year-old attacker has been a mainstay in the Citizens squad for a number of years now.

Although he has struggled this season after failing to score a Premier League goal, the Stockport-born star has a fantastic record for his boyhood club, with 90 goals and 55 assists in 288 games for the club.

In terms of City academy graduates thriving away from the club, Cole Palmer is perhaps the best example. His record for Chelsea since leaving the club is astounding, with 36 goals and 21 assists in 63 games.

Jamie Carragher recently said “there’s no better player in the Premier League” than the Wythenshawe-born star.

Looking further afield than the Premier League, Brahim Diaz is a prime example of someone who has excelled outside of England. He played 15 times for City and has since gone on to play 124 games for Italian giants AC Milan and 85 games for Real Madrid, his current club.

Those are merely some examples of City academy graduates performing well for the City first team, at other clubs in the Premier League or elsewhere in Europe. Another example of a quick rise to the top from a City academy graduate is Rico Lewis, who has become crucial for Pep Guardiola and has seen a sharp rise in value.

Guardiola is known as something of a tinkerer, and when he first brought Lewis into the fold in 2022/23, the treble-winning season, it was a bold call. However, the talent he saw in the youngster was clear for all to see when he got that chance in the first team.

The 20-year-old has played 73 times for the club so far, scoring four times and grabbing eight assists. He has shown incredible versatility during his short professional career.

The City number 82 – who Guardiola described as “one of the best I’ve ever [coached] by far” – has played in a variety of different positions, including both full-back roles and all across midfield.

It has been an awful season for the team from the Blue side of Manchester. They have won one game in their last 11, beating Nottingham Forest 3-0 as their only win. With that being said Lewis has been one of their better performers. He has played 23 games in all competitions, in defence and midfield.

He has also got on the scoresheet this term, as well as grabbing four assists across all competitions. His only goal this term came against Crystal Palace, in a game where he also got sent off for two yellow cards.

Given his importance to the City team over the years it is no surprise that Lewis’ value has shot up so much. He is now worth roughly £38m as per Football Transfers. That is an incredible rise given he was an academy investment who did not cost them anything.

Football statistician Statman Dave described the England international as a “serious talent”. Given his exceptional rise to the top, it is not hard to see why. Already he is a crucial player for the Citizens, and the rise in his value reflects his importance to Guardiola.

Yet again, it is a prime example of an academy player proving to be a fantastic option for City, and one of the best talents they have at the club.

Rangers are thought to have a “very good communicator” on their list to potentially replace Philippe Clement as manager, according to a fresh managerial update.

Clement fighting to keep job at Rangers

Clement has been under constant pressure to keep his job for a while now, with supporters left disgruntled at a lack of positive performances being picked up in the Scottish Premiership title race.

Granted, the Belgian inspired his Rangers side to a thrilling 3-0 win at home to rivals Celtic on Thursday afternoon, easing some of the heat on him, but there is no question that he still needs to do a lot more to fully convince the masses.

Clement’s current struggles mean that other managers are naturally being linked with replacing him at Ibrox, with a host of individuals thrown into the mix, including former player Kevin Muscat, Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes and former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

On the plus side for the current Rangers boss, the club’s financial situation is arguably making it hard for them to sack him, which could be giving him more time to turn things around than he could have been in a different scenario.

Rangers eyeing 45 y/o to replace Clement

According to Football Insider, Steve Cooper is among the frontrunners to replace Clement as Rangers manager and is keen on the job, with the 45-year-old most recently in charge of Leicester City, prior to his sacking.

He sees the Gers job as an “attractive opportunity despite the off-field issues” happening at the club and is keen on a move, but he isn’t the only target. McInnes, Muscat and Russell Martin are also believed to be among the four leading contenders.

Cooper would be an interesting appointment by Rangers, even though some fans may be put off by a failed stint at Leicester – one that saw him last only 14 matches in charge at the King Power Stadium.

The Englishman largely did a superb job in charge of Nottingham Forest, guiding them from the Championship to the Premier League in 2021/22, with Keith Andrews saying of him back in 2021:
